Book, Bolan & Breadwinner

Finally got myself the 500 Guitars book written by Gavin Wilson, the blogmaster of the Guitarz blog, where I also post - more regularly than here I'm afraid.

What urged me to get the book asap is when Gavin told me that there was a picture of Marc Bolan playing an Ovation Breadwinner - my fetish and most precious guitar.
It seems that this photo is nowhere on the Internet and I've never seen it so far, so I really enjoy it - also the 499 other guitars.

The Gate

I'm not only busy with guitars, I'm into music - any instruments - and visual arts. But the two last years that I spent working on guitars did not only improve my music skills and understanding, but it also heavily influenced my art work. I prepare now a big installation based on guitar fetishism and potential music, but during the process I made this one, called The Gate, that includes a grand piano, a theremin, an amplifier and a guitar case. It's like I reached something I was looking for for ages. It's a great release, an important step in my work, and a starting point for further developments.

demo

I shot this short impro for a gear giveaway contest and I like it enough to post it here - guitars are just bulky objects until you play them...

Finally

Finally, after an almost 5 months break, I managed to start to work again on my 7-string guitar project - in the last two days I spent about 10 hours filing the alu front plate to put the pickup, knob and jack input... Quite a minimal guitar indeed, but still the humbucker is splitable with the push-pull knob. And since on all my guitars I mostly play on the neck pickup with the treble on 11, why should I bother with extra stuff?
Anyway, tomorrow I should get a machine to polish the alu front and then I'll put the neck and the bridge...
